The winter season is upon us. It’s all fun and games until you push yourself too far or spread yourself too thin and wind up feeling out of sorts. Here at Wirth Chiropractic, we want to be sure that everyone enjoys the winter, free of pain and discomfort. So, what are some of the most common injuries that occur around this time of year, and what can you do to prevent them? Let’s take a look.

  • Not surprisingly, taking a tumble can lead to major injuries to the head, neck, and spine. Ice can be found many places and can pose a threat.
  • Vehicle Accidents. The winter season sees lots of travel due to vacations, and sometimes the roads can be dangerous. Most commonly, people travel by road in their vehicles. An increase in traffic flow, combined with potentially hazardous conditions of snow and ice accumulation, can present a very tricky driving situation. Stay safe on the roads, use winter driving techniques, and be prepared for any emergency.
  • Strained Neck & Back. This time of year, it seems there’s always something to lift or carry or transport from here to there. The constant repetitive motion can cause muscle fatigue and strain. Remember to lift with your legs, and protect your neck and back at all costs.
  • Cuts & Burns. Dealings with firewood and operating hot food preparation appliances are all causes of cuts and burns. Some are more serious than others, but better safe than sorry. When using something sharp or hot, take your time and use extreme caution. The process may take a bit longer, but you’ll be in better shape to enjoy the festivities.

Were you hurt in one or more of these ways? If your neck, back, or shoulders are bothering you, consider visiting us here at Wirth Chiropractic. We would be happy to schedule a consultation and discuss your concerns in person. Give us a call, and get yourself back on the path to wellness today!
