This week I want to talk to you about small things that you can do to lead a healthier life. These are all actions that won’t take much time but can make a great deal of a difference in your life. They may not seem like much, but it never hurts to try and do a few more things to make yourself feel better.
1. Stretch. One of the best things that you can do is stretch. Even if all you do is reach towards your toes in the morning when you wake up and then stand up and reach for the ceiling, you may be amazed at the difference it can make over time. Although you don’t need to be super flexible to get through life, it can certainly help in some situations. Stretching also helps build certain muscles and assists with your balance. Look up some stretches that you can do at work as well and see how much better you feel.
2. De-Stress. Stress is one of the worst things that we can deal with as humans. This isn’t just because it makes us uncomfortable, but because stress can literally kill. Having a heart attack because of stress is not unheard of in any way and it doesn’t have to be that severe a reaction to be concerning. Stress can manifest in physical pain, it can reduce your immune system, and it can make you irritable which means no one will want to spend much time with you. Try and find a healthy coping mechanism like yoga or meditation to deal with your stress.
3. Avoid Caffeine and Alcohol. This one is difficult for most adults. Caffeine may seem like a necessity to many people, but you do need to remember that it is an addictive drug and should be taken in moderation. It is also worth mentioning that many drinks that have caffeine have gross amounts of sugar as well. This is also true of alcohol, on top of alcohol being a big source of weight gain among many people.
Staying healthy is difficult, but there are dozens of little things that you can do in your daily life to help yourself along the way. These are only three, but it is a good place to start. Keep adding to the list and see how much better you feel!
