Driving around can be a great way to decompress and allow yourself to relax after a long day. Getting out of the mind space that you were in as you worked or ran errands can be cathartic and having a clear road with some of your favorite music is one of the best ways to clear your head as long as you can take the rest of the day off. This relaxing time can quickly turn stressful, however, if you suddenly find that your visibility is poor. Not being able to see where you’re driving can be frightening and dangerous, which is the exact opposite of what you want to be behind the wheel.

There are few better feelings in life than cruising down the highway when the weather is pleasant and you don’t have anything immediate to worry about. Turning your favorite music on and singing along as you think about some fun times with friends can be therapeutic in a very real way. Think back to the last time you had a nice, warm day and were able to just freely drive around. Now think about the last time that you drove in heavy rain or dense fog. It’s probably quite the juxtaposition between the two memories, with one clearly being better than the other.

Regardless of whether your visibility is limited by weather, time of day, or even too many bird droppings on your windshield, it can be dangerous. The ability to see is extremely necessary when it comes to driving safely. While you do sometimes have to drive in less than ideal conditions, you should always make an effort to limit your travel if the roads are in bad shape. Even if that means you need to pull off to the side of the road and wait for the bad weather to pass, it is better than possibly getting into a crash.
