This week, I really wanted to focus on pools and the health benefits that they can provide. During the summer, pools become extremely popular areas to be near and it isn’t hard to see why. After all, I can attest that sometimes you just need to jump in something nice and cool. It is somewhere around ninety degrees in my apartment right now and it is half past midnight. Believe me when I say that I really wish my pool was open. I did want to stress how useful pools are past just cooling off, though. Here are some of the brief ways that pools can help you out for a long time to come.
First of all, swimming and doing other activities in the pool can help build up both bone and muscle mass. This is extremely important, especially as we age. Also, for those who have arthritic conditions or some kind of bone disorder, this can quite literally make a world of difference. While I wouldn’t say that you can stop drinking your milk and taking your calcium supplements, I will admit that it may just be worth the extra effort that a pool takes to either run or become a member of.
Another wonderful thing about swimming is that it can greatly improve your flexibility. Due to the fact that moving in water is so low impact, you are able to stretch better than you normally would while out of the pool. If you work at this and follow it up with some post pool stretches, you may just be amazed at how much it helps your range of motion in all of your joints. You will likely be able to move them better than you thought possible as long as there is no fusion that has taken effect already.
Getting into a pool won’t magically fix all of your health problems, but it is certainly a good way to start getting yourself together in regards to your movement. Another thing that you can do is come into Wirth Chiropractic in Greenville, NC and have our wonderful doctor give you a spinal adjustment before you get back out there. You will be amazed at how much a little help can change how you feel both physically and mentally. Come in today and leave feeling better than you thought possible!
