This week I wanted to talk to you about nutrition. One thing that many people don’t realize is that chiropractors are able to give advice on more than just joint and muscle pain. Due to the fact that they have gone through medical school just like any other doctor, they are able to give the advice that other doctors could give. This includes how to have a healthy and well balanced diet. With so many fad diets out there on the internet and in books now it can be difficult to tell what you should and should not eat. Thankfully, here are a few tips that we can give you to have a healthier plate.
Fruits and Veggies. While everyone knows that these are good for you, what some people may not know is that it isn’t always good to eat only these. For example, some fruits are high in sugar and therefore should be avoided except as a treat. Other vegetables do not really have much nutritional value and should be swapped out for ones that have better vitamin counts. Always do some research into what greens you are hoping to pick up to see if it is worth it or not.
Meats and Fish. Although some people are vegetarian and vegan, many also eat meat and fish. It has been shown that red meat is not something that you should overload yourself on and so a little bit of restraint and moderation is always good to show with most things. If you are unsure how much meat or fish you should eat in a helping, you can always refer to the food pyramid and see if you are eating too much carbs. We hear about carbs so much now, whether you should only eat carbs or cut them out entirely, about good and bad carbs, it can be very exhausting. Talk to your doctor to see what is best for you in regards to what your dietary goals are. If you are curious about what you should or shouldn’t be eating, then come into Wirth Chiropractic for a spinal adjustment and some food advice. We can also help you set up an exercise regimen if you are looking to lose some weight. Just let us know how we can help you!
