For me, the holidays are always a fun time but a very stressful one as well. There is always so much to do and so many things to get and make and so many people to see it’s hard to fit it all into one month. I love being around those who I consider my friends and family, but after a while you just want them to go home so you can sleep. It can be enough to make anyone pull their hair out when you’re trying to find that perfect gift. So what can you do to help keep yourself from going bald overnight?

One of the first things that you should do is try to take a deep breath. It sounds silly, but it really can help. One of my favorite things to do when I’m stressed is to practice a breathing exercise where you slowly count to four. As you count, breathe in. Once you count to four, start over from one and hold your breath. Again, after reaching four start over and exhale for four, making sure that by the time you count to four all of the breath that you just took is gone. Do this a few times and see if it helps you because I know it’s the only thing that keeps me sane some days.

Another thing that you can and should do is take a day or two off. Spend a day wrapped up in a blanket with some hot chocolate and a good book and unplug from the world. Don’t check your Facebook or your emails for a few hours and lose yourself in a different world that you get to choose. Feel the warmth from the hot cocoa fill your stomach and curl up. Maybe take a nap. The day is yours, so do whatever you want to with it. After everything that you’ve done for everyone else, you deserve it.

Another great way to deal with stress is to come into Wirth Chiropractic for a spinal adjustment. Studies have shown that chiropractic care can reduce your stress levels and who are we to argue? Besides, we really want to see you because nothing makes us happier than knowing that you are happy.
