Seeing as how the holidays are upon us, we thought we give you some tips on managing stress that can pop up around this time of year. Even though most of us love this time of year, the added importance on things around now can cause anyone a large amount of stress. This can be because of family, planning, work, or any number of other things. Here are some ideas that may help you to make it through the holiday season without wanting to pull the tinsel out of your tree!
1. Healthy Eating. I’m starting with one of the hardest. Eating in a healthy way is never something we want to think about doing around the holidays. After all, it’s a time to relax and have fun with our loved ones! We’re not saying you have to stick to the veggie platter during your holiday party, but maybe you don’t need to eat that third piece of apple pie right now. After all, that’s what plastic wrap is for. You can just ask to take it home!
2. Time Management. There never seems to be enough hours in the day around this time of year. This is even more true if you have kids. There’s always something they need to go to or you need to help them get done. Do your best to delegate your time so that not everything is left to the last moment.
3. Sleep! Even Santa needs his sleep around this time of year! Although it can sometimes seem like the only time you can get things done is when no other creatures are stirring, you need to realize that it isn’t fair to you. You need to take some time to yourself and get a full eight hours of sleep in order to make sure you don’t get put on the naughty list this year for being cranky!
4. Go Easy. Go easy on everything. Be careful how much sugar you eat, how much egg nog you drink, and how long you spend making snowmen. Remember, everything in moderation.
During the holidays, our normal schedules can seem to go out the window. We don’t always take care of ourselves in the same way during this time of year. We, at Wirth Chiropractic, are here to remind you to take some time for yourself. We want you to stay healthy and enjoy this season!
