This week I really wanted to talk to you about general health. In all of the articles online that tell you how to be healthy, it can be difficult to see the forest for the trees. Much of the information that we can find can seem contradictory as well. For example, I was browsing through the health section of a popular international news source when I saw two articles right after one another. The first said that two glasses of wine or more a day was linked to breast cancer. The next said that two glasses of wine each day can promote a healthy heart. It left me scratching my head for a moment because while both may be true, it’s difficult to tell what you should do in that situation. Do you drink wine for your heart or avoid it to protect against breast cancer? These are the factors that can get confusing.
When you are trying to be the healthiest you that you can, a lot of different decisions need to be made. While many factors are the same from one person to the next, you need to remember one main thing: every single person is different. This means that what works for you may not work for your best friend and vice versa. While it is always a good idea to have someone else go on a diet with you or implement a lifestyle change at the same time, they don’t have to be the same exact thing. Just having the support of someone trying to be healthy can make all of the difference in the world. It also means that if your friend notices a change from going on the same diet but you don’t, there’s nothing wrong with you trying something different. Everyone’s body reacts differently, so don’t get discouraged if you don’t show the same results as someone else.
The main thing that we want you to remember about trying to lead a healthier life is just to do what feels right. If you notice that something isn’t working, then switch it up. Come into Wirth Chiropractic in Greenville, NC and we can help personalize a lifestyle plan that will work for you. Once you feel healthy, then do what you can to keep yourself there. Remember that you are more than numbers on a scale or a measuring tape. No two people are the same.
