In our last article, we went over four of the most common and basic questions that we hear about chiropractors and chiropractic care. In this article we will go over a few more, but we know that it won’t cover all of the questions you may have. We do hope that after this, however, you will feel a bit better about considering chiropractic care.
Is Chiropractic Care Safe? The standard of safety that chiropractic care has is the same as any other non-invasive medical procedure. There is always an extremely small chance of risk, however chiropractic care has been widely considered to be one of the safest methods of pain treatment. While there is sometimes minor discomfort after a spinal manipulation, this often fades within 24 hours and is reduced the more often you go. Due to the fact that chiropractic care does not involve surgery, needles, or medication, it is a very low risk. You may have heard of some form of stroke caused by chiropractic care, but all studies done show that these happen spontaneously in people with certain pre-existing conditions regardless of chiropractic treatment and are not related.
Can Chiropractors Practice In Hospitals? Yes, Chiropractors were first given hospital privileges in 1983.
Can Children Benefit From Chiropractic Care? Yes, in fact people of all ages can benefit from chiropractic care, from infant to geriatric. Chiropractors will alter their techniques depending upon the age and medical status of their patients.
Does My Insurance Cover Chiropractic Care? Often the answer to this question is yes, but it is always a good idea to double check. Normally you can walk right in without a referral from your family doctor, however your insurance company may want one. Always check with your insurance company and the doctor’s office to make sure that your visit will be covered and if any copay will be necessary. We hope that these last eight questions over the past two articles have helped to clear up some confusion that you may have had over chiropractic care.
