Here at Wirth Chiropractic, we understand that not everyone knows a lot about chiropractic care. Sometimes things that are new or that we don’t know a lot about can be really kind of scary. That’s why we like doing some entries every now and then that address questions that a lot of people ask. Here are some of the most common questions that we hear about chiropractic care.
1. Are Chiropractors Actually Doctors? Chiropractors are doctors with medical degrees just like anyone else that you would go to see. Not only do chiropractors have to go through medical school, but they then have to get extra training to know how to manipulate your joints to provide the relief that so many patients report after a spinal adjustment. Most chiropractors will have their medical degrees posted in their office so you can always check.
2. Isn’t This Alternative/Fake/Quack Medicine? Just because chiropractors don’t use pills doesn’t mean their treatment doesn’t help. There is an unfortunate belief that chiropractors are quacks, but this simply isn’t true. Chiropractors will do everything possible to avoid pills and surgery for their patients due to the high stress and high costs that they generally incur. Chiropractic care is a great alternative for people who don’t want these other solutions and has been proven to work.
3. Why Should I Go If My Back Doesn’t Hurt? Chiropractors do more than just backs and necks. Although this is what they are most known for, they can help relieve pain in just about any part of the body as long as there is a joint or muscles. In fact, there have been studies done which show that chiropractic care can even help things like respiratory issues or frequent sickness. There are dozens of reasons to see a chiropractor even if your back is perfectly fine.
4. Can I Afford It? Most insurance plans do at least partly cover chiropractic visits, but it is always best to check with your specific plan before you are surprised by a bill.
