This week I wanted to talk about ways to keep yourself healthy that you may not think about in regards to chiropractic care. Many things can contribute to the wellbeing of your body and even though not all of them have to do with your joints or muscles, they are still extremely important. Here are a few things to think about when you are trying to lead a healthy lifestyle.
1. Volumes. Listening to music or the television at loud levels can be extremely dangerous to your body. This is true no matter how you listen as well. If you have a stereo system you should keep it down to a comfortable level. The closer the source of the sound gets to your ears, the more important this is. If you are listening with headphones, you should make sure that the volume is not too high. The most important time to think about the volume levels of whatever you are listening to is if you are using earbuds. These go inside the ears and can actually damage the hairs which help you to not only hear, but balance as well. The same goes for when you are around loud sounds such as power tools. Always be sure to have the proper ear protection for the volume levels you are around.
2. Diet. This one is always a biggie and is often the most difficult part of a healthy lifestyle to follow. Personally I know it is the hardest for me, as I love all things dairy. You can still enjoy most things you already like, but portion control is probably the hardest part of any diet. When you find food that tastes good, you want to eat as much of it as possible. However, this is only harming yourself in the long run. Cutting back on things like dairy, sweets, and carbs to make room for fruits and vegetables is something you should work towards.
