This week, I really wanted to focus on what Chiropractors can do. As someone who likes to look up new things that may be happening in the chiropractic world, I tend to consult Google every now and then when I have some spare time. Unfortunately, each time I do I tend to see at least one article on the first page that says something along the lines of “Chiropractic care is bologna”, although they don’t put it as nicely. This is simply not true and it’s a shame that some people spread this information as if it were fact. This is why I wanted to answer some questions we get asked or see quite a bit.
I really wanted to answer some frequently asked questions about what chiropractors do and what kinds of training they have. For some reason, many people on the internet have this severe misconception that chiropractors are not real doctors because they don’t prescribe medication or do surgery. I must ask you, does medical school not make you a doctor? In fact, I don’t often hear people say these kinds of things about psychologists when they do not actually have to go to medical school. Now do not get me wrong, I’m not saying that psychologists shouldn’t be trusted, but it does seem a little hypocritical to say that chiropractors aren’t doctors as well.
Chiropractors, because they have gone to medical school, are able to do much more than spinal manipulations and the other things that they went on to study past their time on the medical track. This means that chiropractors can suggest exercise regimens, diet plans, and movement techniques with the medical background to support what they are saying. Things like these are important for a healthy lifestyle, and the goal of a chiropractor is to get you healthy in every way possible. While chiropractors do deal mostly with pain, the entire body needs to be healthy for someone to fully live without any sort of pain.
If you are unsure what else chiropractors can do, or if you have never seen one in action, we suggest you come in and spend some time with us. Get an appointment so you can see first hand how much good chiropractic care can do for someone. You never know, it may just change your life.
