If you haven’t gone to a chiropractor before, you probably have quite a few questions about going. Many people don’t understand what chiropractors do, and even if you have a vague idea you may not know everything that the specific type of doctor does. It’s true that science and the medical community have come quite a way over the past few centuries, but it hasn’t stopped since they started making these incredible breakthroughs. The realm of chiropractic care is no different and has made leaps and bounds in regards to medical care within the past few decades alone.
Chiropractic care is most known for realigning necks and spines. By manipulating the musculoskeletal system, a chiropractor is able to pop certain bones and joints back into the correct position. This can help relieve pain and can even help with things such as pinched nerves and other disk issues in the neck and back. However, chiropractic care has expanded in the past few years. No longer are chiropractors only working with spines, but now chiropractic care has been suggested to help in a wide variety of different injuries and maladies.
For example, chiropractors are being used in increasing numbers by people in the sports world. While yes, very often athletes have trouble with their backs and necks, they also often develop problems with their legs and arms. Chiropractors have been used recently to help combat the development of larger issues in athletes of all ages, even very young ones. This is because the chiropractor does not have to use incisions or drugs to attempt to help injuries and so there is little to no risk to a child’s potential growth.
Chiropractic care is also gaining traction in the military. There was recently a study done which had many active duty military men and women which had just come back from combat zones and they used half the group to see how people with regular doctor care and chiropractic care would compare to those who only received normal care. Those who received chiropractic care reported a better recovery than those who went without.
Although we have had chiropractic care around for decades, we are just starting to realize the extent to which it can be used. If you have any pain that may be muscular or skeletal, come in to Wirth Chiropractic today.
