If you’re excited about the upcoming playoffs of baseball or the start of the NFL season, you’re likely going to be keeping an eye on your favorite players and teams. If you’re paying attention, however, you’ve likely heard of many different injuries that have occurred lately. While football is a high contact sport and many people expect to hear about injuries from impacts, this isn’t always the case. In 2016, the Navy football team’s quarterback suffered a severe injury without being touched. He had planted his foot to turn and suddenly went down due to a large knee injury and is now out for the season after playing for just over a quarter of his first game. Unfortunately, these injuries are not as uncommon as you would think and whether you follow sports or know someone who plays sports at any level, you may be very well aware of this.
The beginning of football season and the fast approach of homecoming football games brings a lot of excitement to many people. Athletic trainers, however, often dread this time of year. This is because there are so many different injuries that can happen with little to no warning. Even the smallest action can cause severe damage. Take for instance a young baseball player who was very promising last year who was weight lifting and tore something in his arm. These occurrences are unfortunate, but not altogether uncommon.
One problem that is reported by a lot of athletes is back pain. This is due to a multitude of reasons and can be from anything from picking up a box the wrong way to being the victim of a hard tackle. Just last night two members of a large baseball team were hit in the ribs with a ball. Although bruises are very different from other injuries, you know it will still hurt. Things like this are all treatable by chiropractors. Yes, even bruises. Bruises are technically soft tissue injuries and most soft tissue injuries can be repaired by chiropractic care.
