Stress

This week I wanted to talk to you about stress. Stress is never something that we want to deal with, but it is something that has become a daily part of our lives. Between looking at the news, worrying about work and family issues, and even other people’s lives can be a big source of stress which leaves you feeling drained and just generally not good. While we don’t have the magic solution to get rid of all the stress in your life, we can suggest a few things that you can do to help combat the physical and mental effects that stress can have on you. Here are a few of our favorite methods of coping with heavy stress in our lives.
1. Take A Hot Bath. When you need to relax, few things work as well as a warm bath and letting your mind drift. Read a book, listen to some soothing music, or even burn some nice smelling candles while you feel your muscles uncoil. This helps to release tension that you may not even realize you are holding in your body and it can work wonders for your mental health as well.
2. Unplug From Technology. Taking a break from things like social media may sound difficult, but it can certainly be helpful. Having so much information thrown at us in such a short period of time can be too much if you scroll through often. If you want to relax, it is a good idea to put your phone and computer away and try not to think about what is going on in the world for a little while. It’s not easy, but it really can turn your day around.
3. Indulge Periodically. Sometimes it is better for your mental health to indulge in something you enjoy than it is to deny yourself a small pleasure. This can be anything from ice cream and brownies to something physical like dancing around as if no one was around. Just make sure that you don’t neglect your physical health by indulging too much.
Dealing with stress is never fun, but there are some things that you can do to help your body relax a little. You can also come into Wirth Chiropractic as well and see if a spinal adjustment can help you release some of the physical stress that you are holding onto.
