As a center for holistic wellness and treatment, we see all types of people with all types of injuries come through our doors. There are, however, some injuries that we see more often than others. These fall into four general categories, which we will discuss in greater detail below. Read on to learn more about the types of cases and patients that a chiropractor faces on a typical day in their office.

Sports Injuries

Athletic activity is one of the leading reasons for a patient to visit the chiropractor in the first place. Whether they want to up their game or recover from an injury, chiropractors can be invaluable to an athlete’s success. In fact, according to the American Chiropractic Association, they’re essential enough that many NFL and MLB teams have chiropractors on staff for the players.

Here’s a list of some of the most common sports injuries to be treated by chiropractic:

  • Sprains and strains
  • Tennis elbow
  • Shin splints
  • Rotator cuff
  • Dislocated joints

Traumatic Accidents

Nobody goes out looking to get hurt, but some accidents are far worse and result in much more severe injuries. For example, patients regularly come into the office looking for back and neck relief after a car accident. A person who fell from any great height might also need pain relief and a way to correct the curvature of their spine. Traumatic accidents often cause your vertebrae to move and shift, and subluxation leads to all kinds of problems.

Overexertion

The muscles in your body are strong and sturdy, but they can only be pushed so far. Those who do manual labor for a living are especially susceptible to overexertion. If you try to take on more than your body is capable of handling, you may cause severe strain. Proper lifting technique and regular breaks will minimize the risk of injury, but chiropractic can help after the fact.

Chronic Pain

While not technically an injury, chronic pain can worsen with time and overuse. Patients frequently come to us with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), and chronic migraines may be symptoms of a subluxated spine. If your quality of life is suffering as a result of chronic pain, don’t hesitate to visit a chiropractor and inquire about treatment.
